Mamma Rao’s is a Staten Island restaurant where we have provided valet service. Planning a night there starts with the reservation book: how many seatings, how many cars and whether any large parties are coming.

The plan starts with where guests pull up and step out, where cars can be parked and how far that parking is from the entrance.
Large parties can arrive all at once, even on an otherwise normal night. If one is in the book, let us know. A group of cars pulling up together needs more hands than the same number of cars spread across the evening.
How valet works at Mamma Rao’s
Our attendants take cars one at a time at the entrance, even when a party pulls up together, so the front of the restaurant stays clear. Guests get a claim ticket, and keys stay with our attendants, not with the host stand.
If the room has more than one seating, send the times. The busiest stretch is usually when one seating is leaving and the next is arriving.
A supervisor is on every job, so the manager has one person to go to during service. Our attendants work in uniform.
Staffing a night at Mamma Rao’s
The size of the crew follows the number of cars, the distance to parking and how many guests arrive at once. A large party, a full house or a long walk to the lot all mean more attendants.
What to send us
Send the date, the service hours and a rough count of guests or cars, and list any large parties separately from regular reservations. We reply the same business day, or you can call (718) 536-9350.
If deliveries come through the same entrance guests use, include the delivery times so a delivery truck and arriving guests are not in the same spot at once.

Cars are parked in the lot or area agreed with the restaurant ahead of time, including on nights when large parties arrive together. If you have an arrangement with a nearby lot or garage, include it in your request.
